It was intended to be a road-legal car for customers who also wished to take part in racing events:
the RS (RS stands for ‘Rennsport’) is now a true cult car. The integrated
rear wing earned it the nickname ‘duck’s tail’. With this, Porsche established the trend for
rear spoilers on production cars, which, alongside the flared front wings, were characteristic
of all subsequent Carrera models. At the time, it was advertised that the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was the fastest
production sports car in Germany. Today, it is one thing above all else: an investment. A total of 1,580 units
were produced.
