Coming from the East Indies, they conquered all of Asia, presumably via Egypt and North Africa to Europe in the 16th century. It is also called eggplant, because its ancestors who it still exist in the Far East are shaped like eggs. The original illustration on which the print is based was created by hand in graphite / watercolor.
