The verifiable origin of the carrot as a cultivated plant goes back to ancient Greece and Rome.
However, the cultivation of carrots in Central Europe can be traced back to the early Middle Ages
difficult to prove, as it was very common growing wild. Only in the 16th and 17th centuries
Central European carrot cultivation is specifically mentioned in old writings.
The original illustration on which the print is based was created by hand in graphite / watercolor.
