The white-purple or white turnip is an ancient crop native to eastern Afghanistan and western
Pakistan could have emerged. The Mediterranean region is also a possible area of origin.
It found early distribution in Asia Minor. It was already known to the Romans and Greeks in
pre-Christian times. Before the potato was introduced, it played an important role in Europe.
The original illustration on which the print is based was created by hand in graphite / watercolor.
